The need to protect patients and staff from Covid-19 (coronavirus) is as important as ever and is a top priority for the practice; particularly as we head into winter.

In addition, the amount of patient requests coming in remains significant. We continue to encourage patients to seek help for their ailments but also ask that patients consider whether the practice is the most appropriate point of care. Before you submit a request do remember that you can order your repeat prescriptions directly through patient access, can get NHS support and advice online to undertake self-help, and for minor illnesses and ailments your local pharmacy team are trained clinical professionals who can provide free advice on the best treatment. If you are ever unsure about where to obtain help, visit 111 online for guidance.   

When accessing the surgery, please remember that we are doing things differently to keep you safe, while making sure that you have access to the care you need. If you have a booked face to face appointment at the practice please ring on the door bell so we can meet and greet you (the door will be closed). This is so we can ensure precautions are taken for you and the healthcare teams safety; and so you can socially distance within the waiting room.

To submit a request or query, we encourage our patients to use our online consultation platform by  clicking on the askmyGP link below. However, if patients would rather call the practice please be prepared to tell our healthcare team about your symptoms or concerns. We will respond in a number of ways, either by online message, by phone, or by video call and we may ask you to come into the surgery. We can assure you that we are dealing with all requests in a safe and timely manner. If you are requested to attend the surgery, please do follow the instructions provided by our staff before arriving.

Patients can self-refer or be referred to the Health Coaches by any member of the Practice Team. Non-clinicians, their role is to guide and enable patients to improve their physical, mental and social wellbeing.


Administration

Joanie Hawks

Joanie is our Medical Secretary, who is responsible for the vast majority of referrals made within the Practice. She often liaises with secretaries from hospitals as well as with patients regarding their referrals. If you have a query regarding your referral please do not hesitate to contact the Practice and ask to speak with Joanie, if she is not working then another member of the Admin Team will do their best to try to help you.

Katie Booth

Katie is the Practice Admin Lead. She oversees the running of reception and trains new Receptionists. Katie works with the Practice Manager to identify areas for improvement and develops policies and protocols. She manages the Nurse and Technician rota, as well as providing admin and IT support.

Sally Higgins

Ella is part of the Admin team but also has regular sessions working in Reception. Ella is responsible for: Looking after the GP rota and obtaining cover from locums when needed, registering new patients as well as deductions, assisting with the childhood immunisation clinics and liaising with Child Health, administering 6 week check/post-natal appointments, monthly recalls - sending letters to patients when they are due for contraception reviews, hypertension and diabetic reviews.

Our friendly Reception Team will always do their best to help you with your queries. They arrange appointments, request home visits, can signpost you to a more suitable service if necessary as well as dealing with a wide variety of clerical tasks. Whilst they are not qualified to give medical advice, when making an appointment they will need to ask you for a brief idea of what the appointment is regarding to ensure that you are booked in to see the appropriate person. Please note that they are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as all our staff.
